Description

Highlights

10% w/v available chlorine. high-strength concentrate for dilution into working disinfectant, surface bleach, and effluent treatment solutions — not a ready-to-use retail bleach.

Broad-spectrum oxidising action. effective against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores at appropriate contact time and dilution — the reference-standard disinfectant active for high-risk environments.

Dual-purpose formulation. functions as both a disinfectant (at lower dilution) and a bleaching/whitening agent (at higher concentration) for lab glassware, drains, and hard surfaces.

Stabilised alkaline carrier. alkaline pH slows chlorine off-gassing and extends shelf stability versus unstabilised hypochlorite solutions.

Cost-effective at scale. one of the lowest per-litre-of-disinfectant costs available — dilutable to very high working volumes for institutional and industrial use.

The chemistry

How does sodium hypochlorite disinfect, and why does concentration and contact time matter so much?
In water, sodium hypochlorite establishes an equilibrium between hypochlorite ion (OCl⁻) and hypochlorous acid (HOCl). HOCl is the dominant active species responsible for microbial kill — it penetrates cell walls and oxidises proteins, enzymes, and nucleic acids, disrupting cellular function irreversibly.

Application & usage

General disinfection. Dilute 1:50 in water (approx. 1000 ppm available chlorine) for routine hard-surface and drain disinfection. Allow 10 minutes contact time, then rinse.

High-risk decontamination. Dilute 1:10 for spill decontamination or high-risk surface disinfection. Allow minimum 10–20 minutes contact time per facility protocol.
