Description

Best suited for. QAC-based hard-surface cleaning and disinfection programmes where BKC chemistry is specified.

Choose this when. You need a benzalkonium-chloride concentrate and can follow the product-specific dilution and wet-contact instructions.

Choose another product when. You need chlorine-specific treatment, acid descaling, heavy grease removal or a ready-to-use surface product.

Highlights

BKC 0.5% w/w. Quaternary ammonium active used in this institutional disinfectant formulation.

Occupied-space compatible. Lime fragrance replaces chemical odour entirely — suitable for active hospital wards, school classrooms, and industrial food-prep areas without disrupting occupancy.

pH 8–10. Near-neutral to mildly alkaline — compatible with a wider range of floor substrates than strongly alkaline alternatives and safe under repeated daily use.

No rinsing required. Allow the working solution to remain on the surface for the specified contact time and then air-dry.

Product-specific use guidance required. Routine cleaning and disinfection use are separate. Use the product-specific dilution and wet-contact time supplied with the product for disinfection.

How to use & dilute

Routine cleaning. For cleaning only, start at approximately 10–20 ml/L and confirm residue, foam and soil removal before setting the site dose.

Disinfection. Do not use the routine cleaning dose for disinfection. Follow the product-specific disinfection dilution and wet-contact time supplied with the product.

Dispensing. Once the product-specific disinfection recipe is defined, set it in a calibrated dispenser or clearly marked measuring system rather than relying on free-pouring.

Equipment & dispenser compatibility

Compatible equipment. Mop buckets, flat-mop systems and calibrated dilution or proportioning equipment set to the specified working dilution.

Use conditions. Use dedicated or thoroughly rinsed dosing equipment because anionic detergent or soap residues can interfere with quaternary-ammonium chemistry. Maintain the stated wet-contact time.

Not intended for. Do not rely on a scrubber-dryer for disinfection unless the site SOP validates the required wet-contact time before solution recovery.

The chemistry

How does Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC) function in the stated institutional disinfection protocol?
Benzalkonium Chloride belongs to the quaternary ammonium compound (QAC) family — cationic surfactants characterised by a positively charged nitrogen atom bonded to four organic groups.

Usage economy

Routine-cleaning planning. At approximately 10–20 ml/L for cleaning use, a 5 L pack can dose roughly 250–500 L of water.

Disinfection planning. Do not calculate disinfection yield from the routine-cleaning dose; use the product-specific disinfection instructions supplied with the product.

Dose control. Once the site recipe is defined, use a calibrated dispenser or clearly marked measuring system rather than free-pouring.
