The chemistry—
Why do silicone-based polishes look great initially but cause problems later, and how does a wax-based system avoid that? Silicone polishes work by depositing a thin, highly reflective silicone oil film that produces an immediate glossy appearance. Over repeated applications, however, silicone accumulates in wood grain and existing finish layers, and is extremely difficult to remove — refinishing or repairing silicone-contaminated wood surfaces requires specialised stripping, since standard finishing products won’t adhere over a silicone residue.
Natural wax-based polishes instead deposit a thin layer of carnauba and beeswax that sits on the surface, filling minor surface irregularities and producing shine through a genuine physical wax layer rather than an oil film. This wax layer is compatible with future refinishing and re-polishing, and it builds a modest protective barrier against moisture and minor surface abrasion without the long-term contamination risk of silicone systems.
Application & usage—
Spray. a light, even mist from 20–25 cm onto the wood surface, or apply directly to a soft cloth.
Buff. wipe with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth in the direction of the wood grain until the surface is dry and glossy.
