Safety Data Sheet, यानी SDS, workplace में chemical product की hazard information communicate करने वाला standardized document है। OSHA Hazard Communication Standard के तहत SDS information 16-section format में organized होती है ताकि workers और employers key information consistently ढूँढ सकें।
SDS का purpose
SDS product identifier, hazard classification, composition information, exposure controls, physical properties, stability, toxicological information और अन्य safety-related data summarize करता है।
Format standardized होता है
OSHA Appendix D SDS section headings और minimum information specify करता है। Sections 1–11 और 16 OSHA-required information रखते हैं; Sections 12–15 standardized format का हिस्सा हैं लेकिन OSHA उनके content को enforce नहीं करता।
Workplace में SDS क्यों महत्वपूर्ण है
SDS hazard communication, worker training, emergency planning और appropriate controls समझने में support करता है। इसे workers के लिए accessible होना चाहिए जब उन्हें information चाहिए।
SDS product label जैसा नहीं है
SDS detailed hazard information देता है, जबकि product label सीधे product/container के साथ information communicate करता है। Regulated products में label directions legal requirements रख सकते हैं जिन्हें SDS replace नहीं करता।
Exact product का current SDS use करें
SDS product-specific होता है। Workplace को actual chemical product के लिए current SDS maintain करना चाहिए, किसी similar product या ingredient family के SDS पर depend नहीं करना चाहिए।

SDS workplace chemical hazard information का structured reference है। इसे exact product label और facility के approved safety procedures के साथ पढ़ना चाहिए।
