SDS और product label दोनों important information communicate करते हैं, लेकिन उनकी roles अलग हैं। SDS structured workplace hazard-information document है; label actual product पर या उसके साथ दी गई information है।
SDS: detailed hazard reference
SDS standardized 16-section format में product identity, hazards, composition, controls, physical properties और अन्य safety information organize करता है।
Label: product के साथ attached information
Label product identify करता है और key hazard, precautionary तथा use information उस जगह communicate करता है जहाँ product handle होता है।
कुछ labels legal use requirements रखते हैं
EPA-registered pesticide products में label legally enforceable होता है और approved directions, precautions तथा conditions of use define करता है। SDS इन label requirements को replace नहीं करता।
दोनों documents साथ काम करते हैं
Workplace में label container पर immediate identification और communication support करता है, जबकि SDS exact product के लिए fuller hazard-information reference देता है।
Matching, current documents use करें
SDS और label actual product in use से correspond करने चाहिए। Similar chemical या दूसरी formulation का document interchangeable नहीं मानना चाहिए।
