Finished wood wood + coating, finish, wax या other treatment का system है। Safe cleaning finish condition पर depend करती है। एक varnished surface पर harmless method दूसरे finish को soften, stain या lift कर सकती है।
Finish और condition identify करें
Wet cleaning से पहले check करें surface painted, varnished, lacquered, waxed, oiled या otherwise finished है और finish sound है या नहीं। NPS clear-finished furniture को stable finish पर ही clean करने की सलाह देता है, cracked/raised/flaking finish पर नहीं।
Loose dust पहले remove करें
Loose dust/grit finish पर rub होने पर abrasive बन सकते हैं। NPS deeper cleaning से पहले clean soft cloth या suitable soft-brush vacuum method से surface soil remove करने को कहता है।
Moisture sparingly use करें
Wood और कई finishes unnecessary wetting से benefit नहीं करते। NPS mild aqueous cleaning appropriate हो तो well-wrung cloth और immediate drying recommend करता है, veneer/inlay/damaged finish पर extra caution के साथ।
Broad use से पहले test करें
Product या finish response uncertain हो तो small inconspicuous area test करें। Full surface पर use से पहले softening, colour transfer, whitening, gloss change या tackiness देखें।
Cleaning और refinishing confuse न करें
Deep scratches, worn coating, water damage, flaking finish और lost colour routine cleaning problems नहीं हैं। GSA cleaning और refinishing को अलग procedures treat करता है। Failing finish पर repeated cleaning damage worse कर सकती है।
Polish/wax तभी use करें जब system require करे
Automatic polish/wax build-up, uneven sheen या sticky surface बना सकती है। NPS बताता है too much wax dust/dirt attract कर सकती है। Specific furniture/finish maintenance program follow करें।
